Ordinary Rain Gauge

A rain gauge is a meteorological instrument that measures the amount of liquid precipitation that falls over a specific area and time period. It’s also known as an udometer, pluviometer, ombrometer, or hyetometer. Rain gauges are used by meteorologists and hydrologists to determine the depth of precipitation, usually in millimeters, over a unit area, which is typically one square meter.
